Born in New Castle, Delaware, Dorothy Rudd Moore studied at Howard University and then with Nadia Boulanger at the American Conservatory at Fontainebleau as well as Chou Wen-chung in New York. She has taught at several institutions in New York City including Harlem School for the Arts and New York University.
