Innocence and Experience

Frank Lewin's Innocence and Experience is a cycle on poems by William Blake for soprano and chamber ensemble.

The instrumental ensemble consists of flute, oboe, horn, harp, two violins, viola and two cellos.

The work was commissioned by Friends of Music at Yale and was premiered by soprano Helen Boatwright with Keith Wilson conducting.

The cycle has nine movements. Seven of the movements set texts of William Blake, and two movements (No. 4 and No. 8) are instrumental interludes. Only movements which contain text are listed below.
