Evening Land was commissioned by the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition at Brigham Young University and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and premiered by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra with Leonard Slatkin, conductor, and Linda Hohenfelf, soprano on November 24, 1995.
