Before the Storm: Four Songs for Mezzo-Soprano, Cello, and Piano is a song cycle by Jake Heggie setting the poetry of Judyth Walker Cave, Emily Dickinson, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Dorothy Parker. The work was composed in 1986 and revised before the premiere on April 26, 1998 at Old First Church, San Francisco with mezzo-soprano Zheng Cao, cellist Emil Miland, and pianist Jake Heggie.
