Khyle Wooten

Dr. Khyle B. Wooten (he/they) is an active composer, choral conductor, educator, researcher, and professor. They have been commissioned for their songs, choral works, and orchestral pieces, and they lead ongoing research on Black women composers.

    Dr. Khyle B. Wooten (b. 1988) is a native of Philadelphia, PA. Having held middle school and high school teaching positions and earning degrees in music education and choral conducting, they now is an assistant professor of music performance at Ithaca college. As a researcher, their work primarily focuses on the life and music of Lena McLin, as well as other Black women composers. Their songs have been performed multiple times at the George Shirley Competition and at the 2022 African American Art Song Alliance conference, and they’ve been commissioned by the Cincinnati Song Initiative. Wooten also composes many choral works and orchestral pieces.
