About

A native of Tyler, Texas, Busby began his career as a textbook salesman. After sneaking into practice rooms at Colorado State University to composer music, he began music studies with Virgil Thompson after a fortuitous evening cooking for Thompson.

His film music for Robert Altman’s film Three Women is one of his best known works.

He has been a resident of New York’s Chelsea Hotel since 1977.
