How can I turn from any fire,
On any man’s hearthstone?
I know the wonder and desire
That went to build my own!

Ives states that the text is "from a quotation in Pres. Hadley's Lectures, 'Some Influences in Modern Philosophic Thought,' Yale University Press." The text is actually the seventh stanza of Rudyard Kipling's poem "Tolerance."
