Homeward

Sun that gives the world its color,
Turn me darker, deeper, duller.

Make the clouds white, and the foam.
Make me brown as fresh-turned loam.

Save whiteness for sky and sea.
Give the tan of earth to me.

Blend me to the hue of loam.
Turn me homeward, turn me home.
