About

This printable timeline is easy to use in your classroom.

All you need is:

  • a roll of butcher paper
  • spray mount repositionable adhesive (made by 3m/Scotch)
  • a printed version of this timeline.

Directions:

  1. Hang the butcher paper on the wall and spray with the repositionable adhesive.
  2. Give each student a page from the timeline and have them share the event on their paper with a classmate.
  3. Have each student place their event on the butcher paper in the correct historical position.

This can be combined with other timelines, allowing for deeper discussion relating general historical and cultural events to specific events in the lives of poets and composers discussed. Feel free to use whichever pages are relevant to the topics you are teaching.
