About
Robert Hillyer was a renowned American poet. He was born in East Orange, New Jersey on June 3, 1895 and passed away on December 24, 1961. After graduating from Harvard, Hillyer moved to France to serve as a volunteer during World War I in the early 1900s.
His love for poetry was often expressed through his teaching. Hillyer worked as a English professor for multiple institutions including Harvard University, University of Delaware, Kenyon University, and Trinity University. In fact, while being part of the faculty at the University of Delaware, Hillyer had recorded regular poetry readings from 1953-1960.
