The Level Bee (op. 105, no. 10)(1941)
"The Level Bee" was originally part of Farwell's 12 Emily Dickinson Songs, Op. 105. The song is currently published in the first volume of Boosey & Hawkes' two-volume Thirty-Four Songs on Poems of Emily Dickinson by Arthur Farwell.
The text of "The Level Bee" is the following poem:
Like Trains of Cars on Tracks of Plush (poem 1224)
by Emily Dickinson
Like Trains of Cars on Tracks of Plush
I hear the level Bee —
A Jar across the Flowers goes
Their Velvet Masonry —
Withstands until the sweet Assault
Their Chivalry consumes —
While He, victorious tilts away
To vanquish other Blooms.
