Hugo Weisgall's Soldier Songs were composed between 1944 and 1946 for baritone and orchestra. An arrangement for baritone and piano was published in 1953. The songs feature the poetry of various American poets, such as e. e. cummings, Herman Melville, Karl Shapiro as well as British and Australian poets.
